Last Saturday, Nigerian music superstar Davido delighted his fans and gave them a night to remember at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai during his one-of-a-kind performance at the Afroworld Festival. Following his performance in Dubai, the singer kicked off his American tour in New York City yesterday. David Adeleke will perform in Brooklyn, Toronto, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles until June 25th as part of his “We Rise By Lifting Others” tour.
Still in Dubai for the Afroword Festival, the DMW boss took fans back in time as he took centre stage to perform a flawless rendition of his greatest hits to date. In an unusual move, the singer forewent performing some of his more recent songs in favour of performing some of his classics in front of the Dubai audience. Davido, dressed dashingly in a blue shirt and shorts, performed hit songs like ‘Dami Duro,’ ‘Gobe,’ ‘Fall,’ and others, and the crowd erupted in applause as if he had just released them.
Dubai fans demonstrated that they have been huge fans of his music for a long time. As the crowd sang along to his old music, he was all excited and lively. The ecstatic audience couldn’t get enough of OBO’s electrifying performance, demanding more from his vast music catalogue as video of the mesmerising display spread across the internet. Nigerians on social media had mixed reactions to Davido’s performance at the Dubai concert, with the majority praising the singer for his crowd control skills.
The award-winning Afrobeats singer shared his plans for the next few days with fans shortly after basking in the euphoria of his classic Dubai show. The DMW boss confirmed the official release date of his project with Ckay (“Love Nwantiti”) and Focalistic, a South African rapper, in a tweet. According to him, he’ll be releasing the ‘biggest club banga’ on Friday, which will feature the above-mentioned music stars.
Then, a week later, Davido announced that he would be releasing the much-anticipated single with American rapper DaBaby, which he dubbed the “song of the summer.” Davido has already released the first single from his upcoming album, “Stand Strong.” The single was met with mixed reviews, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the follow-up single, which will provide more information about his upcoming album.
