As part of measures to enforce the ban on commercial motorcycle operations in the state, the Police Command in Lagos State says it will arrest both the motorcyclist and passenger.
Saturday, its spokesman, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, tweeted the news, which was monitored by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“Passengers and drivers alike will be arrested and prosecuted under the new total ban on motorcycles in the six local government areas of Lagos State.
“The passenger is a conspirator. “Ignorance will not be an acceptable excuse,” he stated.
According to NAN, on Wednesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu banned commercial motorcycles, commonly known as Okada, from all highways in six Local Government Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas.
Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Surulere, Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, and Apapa are the affected areas.
During a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers, Sanwo-Olu issued the directive.
