Hamza Al-Mustapha, presidential candidate of the Action Alliance (AA), has stated that he has no regrets about working with late President Sani Abacha.
Al-Mustapha served as the late dictator’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC).
From 1993 until his death on June 8, 1998, Abacha served as Nigeria’s president.
On Channels Television on Friday, Al-Mustapha, who is accused of plotting at least four coups from behind bars, insisted that serving Abacha was part of his job.
“I don’t have any regrets.” You should be willing to work anywhere if you join the military.
“You could be in the most desolate part of the country or the world. This is my personal experience.
“My personal destiny led me to the position I held. You will notice a distinct difference wherever I serve.
“I’ve done it my entire life and career.”
“I never sought to be posted anywhere. They saw something in me and sent me wherever they wanted. And I gave my life and made sacrifices that will live on in military history.”
In June, Al-Mustapha was elected to the AA presidential ticket ahead of the 2023 general election.
He defeated his only opponent, Samson Odupitan, in the party’s primary with 506 votes.
