Breaking: Airforce personnel clash with traders in Ladipo Market, killing two.

Two people were killed after Airforce personnel clashed with Igbo traders at Lagos’ popular Ladipo auto spare parts market.

According to reports, operatives from Operation (OPs) MESA were in the market in response to a distress call that a soldier had been assaulted by some hoodlums.

When the operatives arrived at the Paramo section of the market, where the incident was taking place, they attempted a retaliatory attack on the hoodlums who had attacked the soldier but were met with resistance from traders. They fired warning shots, and two people were hit by stray bullets as a result.

However, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF’s Director of Information and Public Relations (DOPRI), stated that the operatives were only responding to a distress call from a Soldier who was having a disagreement with a trader.

“First and foremost, NAF personnel did not kill anyone,” he told the Nation. Furthermore, only one person died, not three. The information we currently have is that NAF operatives attached to OPs MESA received a distress call that a soldier was having a problem with a debtor.”

“So they moved in to restore peace, but when some of the traders saw them, they attacked them. They threw stones at them and shattered the patrol vehicle’s windscreen.”

“They assaulted a soldier and took his pistol.”

He claimed that the soldier retrieved the pistol and fired a warning shot to free himself from the crowd, but instead killed one of the traders.
