Federal Government will reposition the Federal Housing Scheme.

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan

The federal government has taken steps to reposition the Federal Integrated Staff Housing (FISH) Program in order to improve people’s lives and comfort.

Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, disclosed this yesterday during the inauguration and handover of erosion control, flood control, and road improvement works at the Amal Pepple Public Servants’ Housing Estate in Lugbe, Abuja.

She stated that under the FISH program, critical infrastructure will be constructed in estates occupied by civil servants.

She revealed that the federal government had resurrected an Inter-Ministerial Implementation Committee on FISH to provide teeth to its intervention efforts.

The committee’s purpose is to involve its member institutions in the provision of infrastructure and amenities such as roads, water supply, and lighting.

The Head of Service explained that the federal government intervened to make the homes of civil servants more comfortable and conducive to their performance of their duties and productivity.

She urged Nigerians to seize control of intervention projects and ensure their proper maintenance.

She stated that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration’s intervention through the Ecological Fund Office would go a long way toward mitigating the dangers associated with erosion and perennial flooding, such as loss of life and property.

She commended Mr. Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Dr. Habiba Lawal, Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office, and other officials and project handlers for their perseverance in ensuring the projects’ timely and expeditious completion.
