Federal Capital Territory and 12 other states also get new police commissioners

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has dispatched new police commissioners to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 12 other states.

Force spokesperson Frank Mba revealed the information in an Abuja statement on Friday.

The deployment of senior officers, according to Mr Mba, is part of an attempt to reorganize the force for improved efficiency, to stabilize the internal security order, and to ramp up the battle against crime and criminality.

The police force had recently completed a promotion exercise in which numerous police commissioners were elevated to Assistant Inspector General, making them unfit to supervise state police commands due to their new position.

Niger – Monday Kuryas; Kwara – Emienbo Assayamo; Nasarawa – Soyemi Adesina; Taraba – Abimbola Shokoya; Benue – Akingbola Olatunji; and FCT – Babaji Sunday, according to Mr Mba.

Others were Arungwa Udo of Kogi, Abdullahi Mudashiru of Kaduna State, Aliyu Tafida of Jigawa, Abubakar Lawal of Enugu State, Alhassan Aminu of Cross River, Echeng Echeng of Bayelsa, and Musa Baba of Kebbi.

Other CPs deployed, according to Mr Mba, were Ndatsu Mohammed, FCID Abuja’s Anti-Fraud Unit; Sikiru Akande, Force Headquarters’ Department of ICT; Bankole Sikiru, INTERPOL, FCID Lagos; and Augustine Arop, Deputy Commandant, Police Staff College Jos.

According to the FPRO, the I-G encouraged the officers to justify the trust placed in them and reiterated the force’s commitment to continuing its efforts to stabilize security in the nation.

According to him, the I-G urged residents in the affected states to work with their new CPs to ensure that services are delivered efficiently.

Mr Mba stated that the top police officers’ postings and redeployments were effective immediately.
