Troops detain eight suspects in the Plateau killings of three women


Eight suspects have been arrested by members of the Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), in connection with the murder of three women in the Rafin Bauna community in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Maj. Ishaku Takwa, the task force’s media officer, confirmed this in a statement issued in Jos on Tuesday.

Gunmen attacked three women on a farm in the community, killing two and injuring one, who later died.

“OPSH troops arrested eight suspects this afternoon in connection with the shooting of three women on a farm near the Rafin Bauna general area in Bassa.

“The troops had responded to the distress call and had rushed to the scene, where they discovered two of the three women had been shot dead on the spot, while the third had sustained gunshot wounds.

“Unfortunately, the injured one died later while receiving hospital treatment,” the statement said.
