The leaked divorce petition filed by Anita Okoye, wife of Nigerian music artist Peter Okoye, better known by his stage name Rudeboy, has sparked more reactions on social media.
It was reported on Friday that a petition citing irreconcilable differences as the cause of the seven-year marriage’s irreversible disintegration had been leaked.
Remember that Rude Boy married Anita in 2014 following a ten-year engagement. The couple has three children at the moment.
Concerned Nigerians took to social media in the aftermath of the revelation to express their differing viewpoints.
While some people are afraid of getting married because of the high prevalence of divorce in our culture, others feel that wonderful marriages still exist.
It has produced a list of some of the Twitter reactions.
“Because Anita Okoye asks the court to break her marriage to musician Paul Okoye (Rudeboy of P Square), no mean say make you give up on love, there are still many successful marriages out there, bad news in marriages and divorce merely have better PR,” says @UNCLE AJAJA.
“Rudeboy was against his brother’s marriage to a Yoruba woman who was older than him, now his own marriage don first cast.. no be by same race or age gap.. marry who you love,” tweeted @Dignityboss.
“Rudeboy and his wife Anita are set to end their marriage,” says @lamOhmai. People increasingly end marriages as if it were a dating relationship.”
“Waking up to Anita and Paul Okoye’s (Rudeboy) divorce proceedings is the most shocking news I’ve heard this week,” says @BarcaPrincipal. I adore that couple because they started from nothing and now they have this”???
