Ayodeji Oluokun, an assistant pastor at the Redeem Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Victoria Island, was given a two-year prison sentence for issuing a $1.6 million bad check by the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja.

Oluokun was charged with theft and collecting money under false pretenses, together with his company Peak Petroleum Industry Nigeria Ltd, on an amended six-count complaint.
In her decision, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo held that the prosecution had successfully proven the charge of issuance of a dud cheque against the defendants.
The judge, on the other hand, discharged and acquitted the defendants of stealing and obtaining money through deception.
According to the judge, the prosecutor failed to establish the charge of stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
The judge thereafter sentenced Oluokun to two years imprisonment or pay a fine of two million naira and his company to also pay a fine of two million naira.
