AIG warns against using SPY plate numbers

Okunlola Kola Kamaldeen, the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone Six, has warned against using spy plate numbers in the zone.

The zone includes the states of Akwa Ibom and Cross River.

He warned that the ban on using spy plate numbers remained in effect.

The AIG stated in a statement signed by the zonal PRO, DSP Nelson Okpabi, that violators face seizure of such plates, impoundment of vehicles, and arrest of occupants.

He also warned the zone’s officers and soldiers to be on high alert and to be disciplined.

Also in the statement, the AIG called on security stakeholders, members of Civil Liberty Organisations, captains of industries, the academia, and eminent persons to partner with the police and embrace the citizen-driven community policing policy of the IGP. During his visit to Akwa Ibom State Command, he lectured officers and men on zero tolerance for assault on police officers, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights, non-partisan in political issues, fairness, and value neutrality in handling cases.
