COVID-19: Indonesia approves emergency use of China’s mRNA vaccine

The mRNA-platform COVID-19 vaccine, AWcorna, produced by Chinese companies, has received an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

A SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine called AWcorna was created by Suzhou Abogen Biosciences Co., Ltd. and Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd. Acorna could be transported and stored between two and eight degrees Celsius.

Penny Lukito, head of BPOM, stated at a news conference on Friday in Jakarta that “the AWcorna vaccine has been licensed for EUA to prevent infection with the SARS CoV-2 virus in individuals aged 18 years and above, as a main and heterologous booster dosage.”
