Court of law dissolves eight-year marriage due to complaint of ‘irresponsibility’

On Thursday, a Central Area Court in Kasuwan Nama 1, Jos, Plateau State, dissolved an eight-year marriage between one Samira Makama and her husband, Muhammed Musa, due to his inability to provide for his family.

In granting Makama’s request, a panel of judges comprised of Malam Sadiq Adam and Mr Hyacenth Dolnanan stated that all efforts to reconcile the parties had failed.

The judges directed the petitioner and respondent to separate.

However, the court ordered that the respondent provide monthly support for his children and pay their school fees.
Previously, the wife petitioned the court to dissolve their marriage, claiming that her husband of 8 years had failed to provide for her and their two children.

She testified in court that her husband had divorced her twice according to Islamic rites and had also severed their conjugal relationship.

She claimed she was in court to seek the dissolution of her marriage to the respondent.
