NASS Commission appoints Tambuwal as Acting Clerk

The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has authorized Mr. Sani Tambuwal’s appointment as the National Assembly’s temporary clerk (CNA).

This was stated in a statement released on Friday in Abuja and signed by Mr. Ahmed Amshi, the commission’s executive chairman.

Tambuwal, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), formerly served as the department’s secretary of finance and accounts.

Amshi claims that Mr. Ogunlana Kamoru, the temporary deputy clerk to the National Assembly, is among those who have been appointed (DCNA).

“Mrs. Henrietta Aimua-Ehikioya has been transferred to the position of secretary for legal services, while Mr. Birma Shuaibu has been named acting secretary for the directorate of human resources, Mr. Umoru Ali has been named acting secretary for research and information, and Mr. Omogbehin Yomi has been named acting secretary for special duties.

“Mr. Nwoba Andrew, acting Secretary of Planning and Legislative Budget; Mr. Inyang Titus, acting Secretary of Finance and Accounts.”

The appointments, according to the executive chairman, followed the commission’s approval of a memo from the Committee on Establishment, Records, and Training.

This relates to the requirement to fill open positions on the National Assembly Management team.

Amshi stated that the commission had further decided that Tambuwal would continue to work with Ojo Amos, the departing National Assembly clerk, until Tambuwal’s retirement on February 14, 2023.

“This is to ensure the success of the ongoing 2023 Appropriation Bill’s processing, which should be transmitted to the National Assembly only by the substantive Clerk in accordance with the Authentication Act’s provisions.”

Tambawal was born on February 2, 1965, according to NAN. In 1978, at Town Primary School in Tambawal, he earned the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC), and in 1983, at GSSS in Birnin-Kebbi, he earned the General Certificate of Education (GCE O/Level).
