Prior to the 2023 General Elections, the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) primary constituency in Sokoto state joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This information may be found in a statement made on Wednesday in Sokoto by Mr. Bashar Abubakar, the Special Assistant to Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), the state’s top APC official.
According to Abubakar, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, the party’s governorship candidate, welcomed the leaders of the organization known as the “Ubandoma/Sagir Youth Mobilisation and Awareness Support Group” into the APC.
Lukman Kwaire and Anas Muhammad, the organization’s chairman and secretary, respectively, were among those who were welcomed by the APC, he claimed.
The defectors had been working for the PDP in a variety of sectors, but Abubakar claimed they had discovered a lack of political ideology and direction within the party, which led them to stop supporting it and join the APC.
“The new members left the PDP when Alhaji Umaru Tambuwal, an APC shareholder in the state, intervened,”
Given the number of people joining the APC on a daily basis, Abubakar expressed confidence that the party would win the election.
