Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, removed Engr. Mu’azu Magaji from his position as Executive Chairman of the state NNPC/AKK Gas Pipeline Project and Gas Industrialisation Committee for the second time in 13 months on Monday night (KNSG-PDIC).
Engr Magaji, a governorship aspirant, was sacked from Ganduje’s cabinet as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure in October 2020 after making an outrageous statement about the late Chief of Staff to the President, Alhaji Abba Kyari.
Pundits were perplexed, however, when Ganduje appointed the homeboy as Chairman of the state NNPC/AKK Gas Pipeline Project and the Gas Industrialisation Committee in April (KNSG-PDIC).
The latest development followed what Muhammad Garba, Commissioner for Information, described as “his inability to measure up to the challenging job, poor performance, and insubordination
According to Garba, the controversial politician “failed to live above board in carrying out the responsibility assigned to him to oversee the project to which the government attaches great premium.”
According to the statement, his leadership of the committee, which is tasked with, among other things, coordinating in close collaboration with the NNPC on timely project implementation, has not been forthcoming in working to achieve the desired goal.
However, the statement directed that the sacked chairman hand over the committee’s affairs to the Deputy Executive Chairman, Aminu Babba Dan’Agundi, Sarkin Dawaki Babba.
As a result, Governor Ganduje thanked him for his service and wished him luck in his future endeavors.
