In Niger, police apprehend three bandits, release 15 kidnap victims


The Niger State Police Command announced that its officers had rescued 15 abducted victims and apprehended three bandits.

“On 11/05/2022 at about 1330hrs, intelligence was received that suspected armed bandits were observed at Agigi/Kpashimi forest via Lapai LGA,” said Police Public Relations Officer DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun.

Three suspected bandits were apprehended, 15 abducted victims were released, and some injured bandits fled to the jungle with bullet wounds, according to him.
He went on to say that two burned motorcycles were also found in the bandits’ hideout.
“Similarly, armed bandits attempted to enter Maraban Dan-Daudu and Jiko villages via Gwada, Shiroro LGA on 12/05/2022 at about 0930hrs. “A joint security team deployed to the area, with vigilante members responding and engaging the bandits in a gun duel that lasted for hours.

“As a result of this, the bandits were repelled, as the majority of the hoodlums fled into the forest with bullet wounds after suffering several casualties,” he explained.
