Kadpoly lecturer, daughter, commercial driver still in captivity, 2 weeks after

Engineer Ramatu Abarshi, a Kaduna Polytechnic lecturer, her daughter, and a commercial driver were abducted two weeks ago and are still in the kidnappers’ nest.

Dr. Ramatu Abarshi, the former Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Kaduna Polytechnic, and her daughter, Ameera, were kidnapped on April 24, 2022, near Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

They were returning after a distribution of garments to IDPs in Kaduna State’s Lere Local Government Area.

The kidnappers sought N100 million in ransom less than two hours after their kidnapping.

According to a family source in Kaduna, negotiations had resumed and they were pleading for a lower payment.

In Kaduna State, kidnapping has become a significant business.

A father, his wife, and their sick youngster were just stolen.

They freed the sick boy, who died a few days later while in hospital, but the kidnappers have demanded a N5 million ransom before releasing the late son’s parents.
