The Indigenous People of Biafra claim that Rochas Okorocha, the former governor of Imo State, tried to join IPOB several times but was rejected by its leadership.
As a result, the group warned him not to use them for political purposes, as doing so would lead to “political destruction.”
IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said in a statement on Monday that Nigerians must be wary of Okorocha, claiming that the former governor and his associates are responsible for a slew of attacks, killings, and kidnappings in Imo State.
“Okorocha has tried so many times to be a part of IPOB to decide the movement’s path forward, but IPOB leadership has refused to accept him,” he said. “IPOB will actualize Biafra freedom and independence from the oppressive Nigerian state, and Okorocha and his ilk will be there to watch.” His recent outbursts against IPOB will lead to his demise. IPOB has never seen him as a threat to Biafra’s liberation, despite the fact that he is a member of the group.
“It only demonstrated that he is speaking the minds of his Abuja masters, who advised him to syphon Imo State funds with his family, particularly his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.”
Okorocha allegedly created the “criminal gangs” to counter the “criminal gangs” of the current Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, so that his properties would not be seized, according to the group.
It therefore challenged Okorocha to request that the Federal Government hold a referendum on Biafra in order to gauge public opinion.
It claimed that the Federal Government would not receive a “no” vote in the referendum because all people in the South-East want independence from Nigeria and that no amount of intimidation would be able to stop them.
“If Okorocha and his co-traitors in Biafra land want any recognition in Biafra, let them tell their Fulani masters to set a date for a Biafra referendum and see if they can get one percent of ‘no vote’ in the region,” the statement read in part.
Rochas Okorocha and his associates must be avoided by Nigerians because they are responsible for a slew of attacks, killings, and kidnappings in Imo State.
“We know how many times they tried everything they could to create these groups killing innocent citizens in Imo state because of Hope Uzodinma’s political decisions to ensure that he collected all the properties he had obtained with public funds through corruption.”
“Okorocha’s criminal activities have made him well-known around the world. Okorocha and his gang have murdered a large number of people in Imo State, believing that they are fighting Uzodinma and his own criminal gang.
“Both politicians have used their hoodlums to destroy Imo State. Their atrocities are wreaking havoc on the innocent citizens.
“Okorocha must abandon the notion that he can use IPOB to further his nefarious political ambitions. Instead of attempting to use IPOB for political gain, he should remain silent. We can’t let him use IPOB’s name to promote himself.

“By attempting to use IPOB for political gain, he is digging his own political grave.” Nigerian politics are uninteresting to us. Our mission is to restore Biafra, and we will not be deterred.
“No amount of coercion will be able to stop this. The sooner Nigeria and her spies in Biafran realise this, the better.”
