Police officer has gone missing after gunmen attacked a police station in Enugu


CP Abubakar Lawal, Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, has vowed to apprehend unknown hoodlums who attacked Umulokpa Police Divisional Headquarters in Enugu State’s Uzo-Uwani LGA.

The CP, in a statement made available to journalists in Enugu on Monday by police spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe, directed the State CID and tactical teams of the Command to step up ongoing investigations to find a female personnel reported missing following the attack.

“Investigation has been launched to locate a female personnel who was reported missing and to fish out the yet-to-be identified hoodlums who attacked and vandalised vehicles and other items at Umulokpa Police Divisional Headquarters in Uzo-Uwani LGA, in the evening hours of October 9, 2021,” he said.

After leading a team of Senior Police Officers and Commanders of the Command’s tactical/operational teams to the scene, the Commissioner issued this order.”

“The public, particularly state citizens, have been enjoined to assist the command with credible information and/or intelligence that will lead to the location of the said personnel and the arrest of the assailants,” he said. Meanwhile, the body of Stephen Ajah was discovered along Ozallah/Agbani Road in Enugu’s Nkanu West LGA.

“There was a reported case of murder of a young man identified as Stephen Ajah, along Ozalla/ Agbani Road in Nkanu West LGA, by yet-to-be identified armed men,” Ndukwe said.
