Army will train 21, 885 people in 2022


The Nigerian Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) announced on Thursday that 21,885 soldiers will receive various training in 2022 to improve their ability to deal with security challenges in the country.

The training was designed for cadets, recruits, and special forces, according to TRADOC Commander Major General SO Olabanji, who revealed this when testifying before the House of Representatives Committee on Army to defend the command’s budget for 2022.
In his presentation, Olabanji proposed a budget of N43.3 billion for TRADOC in 2022, which would cover personnel emoluments, capital, and overhead costs.

The budget proposal includes N30.8 billion for personnel emolument, N4.9 billion for overhead, and N7.4 billion for capital projects.

He said the TRADOC training for 2022 was designed for 3,885 cadets expected to be commissioned into the Nigerian Army’s officers’ cadre; 18,000 recruits as other ranks; and 4,800 special forces cadets among the commissioned and other cadres.

Watermanship, deep-diver, airborne, and leaving off the land are among the aspects of the training mentioned by Olabanji, as are target acquisition, tracker, assailing, and repelling, as well as counterterrorism and counterinsurgency.

He explained that the training was aimed at increasing the army’s personnel strength and fighting capabilities in order to combat insecurity.
