President Muhammadu Buhari has urged security services to continue their offensives against terrorists and other criminals operating in the north-west, particularly in Zamfara State.
In a statement issued Sunday by his spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, the president praised the military for their unrelenting assault and for continuing to achieve positive results based on their current operational trajectory in the north-west, particularly Zamfara State, which has been a hotbed of criminal activity.
While there appears to be relative calm in the state, with situations returning to normal in most areas and rural communities ready to resume normal life, President Buhari noted that there had been several breaches, particularly in light of the bandits’ attacks on Damri, Sabongarin Damri, and Kalahe villages in Bakura Local Government Area, and recently Maradun, where a number of casualties were reported.
“We must not allow the return of days when the bandits had complete freedom to do what they pleased,” he says. The people of Zamfara and other rural areas must be let to live in peace.”
As a result, the president commanded that the momentum created by the security agencies be maintained in order to put an end to the killers’ operations.
While expressing condolences to the victims’ families, as well as the state government and people, President Buhari also demanded that the federal and state governments work together to put an end to the heinous killings.
