Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic scholar, has lamented the spate of insecurity and economic hardship plaguing Nigerian households.
Gumi acknowledged in an interview that Nigerians are suffering and are unable to feed themselves as market prices continue to rise.
The Islamic cleric prayed for the immediate release of those held captive by the bandits after the recent attacks on the Abuja-Kaduna train.
He also urged Nigerians to stay united as the 2023 general elections approach in order to elect a government capable of alleviating the hardships that the current government has imposed on the country’s citizens.
“I believe the majority of Nigerians are in some form of serious economic distress; however, we must not forget those at the mercy of kidnappers and the downtrodden.”
“We pray for their immediate release and hope that Nigerians will band together to usher in a new government that will address these challenges,” he said.
