The Nigeria U20 team were crowned champions of the WAFU B tournament after a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic in Niger Republic, the tournament’s host nation. Tolulope Ojo Samuel put the Ladan Bosso-trained youngster in front from the penalty spot 32 minutes into the match to put Nigeria ahead. Their third straight goal from the penalty spot.
Ojo followed his penalty kick goal with a long-range effort that could have been the tournament’s best before Ibrahim Muhammed dashed any hopes of a late comeback for Benin Republic, who had been reduced to ten men. Six minutes before the final whistle, Farid Edou scored a goal for the young squirrels, but it proved to be a mere consolation as Nigeria won their first WAFU title at this level.
